Benevolence Through Perseverance
COVID-19 has disrupted and strained countless lives in its wake. Teaching English in Spanish schools, Anne had finally begun to experience her dream life abroad. Once COVID-19 pandemic began, Spain canceled in-person classes and announced a furlough application for those jobs that had been stalled. Anne waited and waited for financial help to come, but it never came. Her teaching company went into liquidation, and Anne was left on her own. With very limited online work, her basic needs could not be afforded. Reaching out to the British Consulate in desperation, Anne was referred to the British Benevolent Fund and we were finally able to send her home.
