Glamorous Coronation Event Raises Thousands for BBF

On Saturday, May 20 brought together members of the British Embassy, Malaga Council, Cudeca volunteers, British Benevolent Fund members and charitable fundraisers for a night to support charity while celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.

The event, to raise funds for both Cudeca and the British Benevolent Fund, was kindly organised by the Fundacion Hispano Britanica, supporting two charities which do much to help expats living in Spain.

The glitzy event at business venue The Uppery Club, Malaga saw guests treated to a champagne and canape reception for sitting down to enjoy the music of local choir, TAPAS.

Videos showing scenes from King Charles Coronation, as well as a special message from Hugh Elliott, British Ambassador to Spain, were then shown, highlighting the sense of British patriotism still very much alive in Spain.

Speeches by the embassy's Economics Councillor Sarinka Parry-Jones and Foreign Affairs Councillor at Malaga City Council, Mar Torres, were followed by a moving speech by the BBF's own president, Olaf Clayton, who spoke about the important work the charity does to help those in extreme need in Spain.

Afterwards, guests enjoyed a four course meal before a charity raffle, with prices generously donated by many businesses, took place, raising more funds for both charities.
